Civil Little River

Westlake Punnett & Associates Pty Ltd were engaged by Soil Conservation Service NSW to provide Civil and Structural Engineering design for a proposed bed-level crossing at Little River, Thirlmere within the Nattai National Park. Following large rainfall events, the previous river crossing at Little River had washed away and as aresult had cut-off an important fire-trail within the Nattai National Park. The projecthas been flagged as one requiring fish passage and as such, DPI involvement throughout the project was required.

Our involvement included the following:

  • Review of DPI information regarding fish-passages for bed-level crossings.
  • Meetings with National Parks, DPI Fisheries and Soil Conservation representatives.
  • Hydrological catchment analysis using HEC-RAS.
  • Design of 60m long reinforced concrete bed level crossing.
  • Inspections during construction.
  • Respond to RFI’s during construction.
  • Certification of the as-constructed bed-level crossing.
