With increasing demand comes an increased responsibility to cater to the needs of our customers both small and large. With this in mind, Westlake Punnett have expanded their team to include student engineers Jesse Taylor and Jonathan Hynes.
Both recruits study a double degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University in their final year. The boys bring with them great technical knowledge and theoretical background and have transitioned quickly into developing their knowledge into the practical aspects of Civil and Structural design.
In their short time with the company Jesse and Jon have been involved in projects including the Civil design of a large residential subdivision in Mollymook, Structural and Civil Engineering for the Master Plan at Woodburn on NSW’s far north coast and many residential and commercial projects.
These men are quickly becoming invaluable members of our growing company and are excited to develop their engineering careers while still living in the beautiful Shoalhaven and Wollongong areas.
Wollongong Office Kicks Off For 2018
After another huge year in 2017 servicing the Shoalhaven and Illawarra area, Westlake Punnett has expanded to incorporate a new Wollongong office with the aim of being more accessible to our existing client base in and around the Illawarra whilst also seeking new opportunities and projects.
“After experiencing a growing demand for the company’s services and operations from Shellharbour to Stanwell Park, it was a natural progression to open the new office in Wollongong.” Said Director Greg Westlake. “The ability to be flexible and responsive in our line of work is often crucial and to function in that regard, proximity to our projects and clients alike is also critical.”
Director Simon Punnett recognises the geographical flexibility the new office will give the firm – “With offices in Ulladulla, Nowra and now Wollongong, our range of valuable service has been extended to include the Illawarra as well as the Shoalhaven and Eurobodalla regions which we have serviced for years”
14/41 Market Street, in the heart of Wollongong CBD will be the hub of Westlake Punnett’s Wollongong operations moving forward for 2018. All Ages All Inclusive Playspace at Mollymook Beach
Westlake Punnett prepared the civil and structural engineering design documentation for the All Ages All Inclusive Playspace at Mollymook Beach. The Mollymook Inclusive Playspace will be the first of its kind in the Shoalhaven and will showcase the region as an inclusive community, aiming to create a space where all ages and abilities play and socialise, side by side.
Construction of the Playspace is underway and Westlake Punnett have now been engaged by the building contractor, Tereno Pty Ltd, to provide inspection and certification services for the project.
The development of the Inclusive Playspace will incorporate shared pathways, inclusive play equipment for all ages (including seniors play), shade, seating, tables and a Changing Places amenities building, all within a fully fenced area. The space will incorporate all access play design principles and an all access pathway network throughout the park, connecting car parks with a disabled toilet, beach access, café and adjoining accommodation.
The Playspace will be of universal design, meaning products and buildings will be accessible and usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Universal design provides one solution that can accommodate people with disabilities as well as the rest of the population. It also gives attention to the needs of older as well as younger people, women as well as men and left handed as well as right handed persons.
Council has incorporated a bespoke ‘Pigeon House Mountain’ as the centre piece of the Playspace in recognition of this significant landmark in the Southern Shoalhaven.
