St Vincent De Paul’s Building in Central Nowra
This building contains interesting architectural features and a wide open floor plan which provided some Engineering issues. The use of hidden steel frames and a braced roof structure overcame the challenges and provided a building that satisfies all the client’s needs.
Mazda demanded a high quality show room and a large free standing wall for their signage. The use of well designed steel framing systems provided an economical solution and impressive building.
Ulladulla Civic Centre
The recent expansion of the Ulladulla Civic Centre resulted in an impressive new addition to the Ulladulla streetscape. Although not immediately obvious, the glazing support system was required to cantilever up off a thin suspended concrete slab. This required the use of large cast in steel brackets and the site welding of ‘heavy wall’ columns. Close cooperation between the builder and Westlake Punnett ensured the success of this challenging construction technique.
South Coast Orthopaedic Centre
This building located in Bridge Road across from the Westlake Punnett office was located on a contaminated site. The basement slab was specially designed and detailed to contain any contaminants left on the site after remediation. Nowra Arts Centre Upgrade
Westlake Punnett worked closely with Shoalhaven City Council on this renovation project. The old TAFE building was converted into the highly successful Arts Centre. Works involved the modification of load bearing walls and slab penetrations to allow the installation of the important AC system. Accurate regulation of temperature and humidity is critical for artworks.
Jetty at Murrays Beach
Booderee National Park required a new Jetty with a 50 year life span to replace the old timber structure. Westlake Punnett recommended a full Aluminium structure with FRP decking to meet this demanding requirement. The new Jetty is now a popular asset for fisherman and visitors to the park.
Stainless Steel Artwork
These stainless steel fronds were challenging to design and required the use of sophisticated analysis techniques to achieve the slim and elegant profile desired by the artist.
Portal Frame Shed at HMAS Creswell
Westlake Punnett undertook structural analysis work to check the design of the structure. We were also contracted by Zauner Constructions Pty Limited to perform all inspections and certifications of all concrete footings, slabs and structural steelwork during construction.
Architectural Waterfront Residence
Westlake Punnett and Associates liased carefully with the Owners, Architect (Art House Building Design) and the builder (Build Platinum) to achieve a great result on this beachfront Architectural residence. The house required a full steelwork frame to account for large open spans, vast amounts of glazing, flood voids and exposed steelwork elements. Westlake Punnett also undertook the design of all concrete footings and pool which required careful consideration of Shoalhaven City Councils coastal erosion policies.
210 Tonne Rotor Lifting Beam for Snowy Hydro Ltd
