
West Nowra Fire Station
Design of the new West Nowra Fire Station. Westlake Punnett was engaged by Shoalhaven City Council to undertake the Civil and Structural Design and documentation of this project along with all inspections and certifications during construction.

Cumberland Avenue Tilt Up
One of many tilt up industrial buildings located in South Nowra designed by Westlake Punnett.
The layout for these industrial units was based on structural advice from Westlake Punnett to maximise efficiency and minimise the cost of the tilt up panels.

Mollymook All Abilities Playground
The Mollymook Inclusive Playspace is the first of its kind in the Shoalhaven and showcases the region as an inclusive community, creating a space where all ages and abilities play and socialise, side by side. Westlake Punnett and Associates undertook all aspects of the Civil and Structural design as well as inspections and certifications throughout the construction process.

Plant Platform at Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital
A galvanised steel plant platform for the Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital was designed by Westlake Punnett. Limitations on floor space and connections to the existing building were required to avoid encroaching on the courtyard below

Culburra Beach Skate Park
The long awaited skate park for Culburra Beach is now complete. Westlake Punnett undertook the Civil and Structural Design of the skate park as well as assistance with conceptual design and drafting of park layouts. The park includes the main skate park, a fitness area, basketball half court and bbq facilities. Stage 3 of the project involves the construction of an amenities facility to the Southern end of the park.

New Nowra Crematorium and Worrigee Cemetery
The new crematorium at Worrigee cemetery required Civil and Structural engineering design and documentation by Westlake Punnett. We worked closely with Batmac Constructions during both the design and construction phase of the project to achieve the desired result for the Local Council.

St Vincent De Paul’s Building in Central Nowra
This building contains interesting architectural features and a wide open floor plan which provided some Engineering issues. The use of hidden steel frames and a braced roof structure overcame the challenges and provided a building that satisfies all the client’s needs.

Nowra Mazda
Mazda demanded a high quality show room and a large free standing wall for their signage. The use of well designed steel framing systems provided an economical solution and impressive building.

Ulladulla Civic Centre
The recent expansion of the Ulladulla Civic Centre resulted in an impressive new addition to the Ulladulla streetscape. Although not immediately obvious, the glazing support system was required to cantilever up off a thin suspended concrete slab. This required the use of large cast in steel brackets and the site welding of ‘heavy wall’ columns. Close cooperation between the builder and Westlake Punnett ensured the success of this challenging construction technique.

South Coast Orthopaedic Centre
This building located in Bridge Road across from the Westlake Punnett office was located on a contaminated site. The basement slab was specially designed and detailed to contain any contaminants left on the site after remediation. The first floor slab utilises pre-cast floor panels and the roof is fully steel framed.

Bomaderry Sports Centre
Westlake Punnett Engineers undertook all structural inspections for the concrete slabs and Structural Steelwork for the new basketball stadium and sports centre in Bomaderry.

Nowra Arts Centre Upgrade
Westlake Punnett worked closely with Shoalhaven City Council on this renovation project. The old TAFE building was converted into the highly successful Arts Centre. Works involved the modification of load bearing walls and slab penetrations to allow the installation of the important AC system. Accurate regulation of temperature and humidity is critical for artworks.

Jetty at Murrays Beach
Booderee National Park required a new Jetty with a 50 year life span to replace the old timber structure. Westlake Punnett recommended a full Aluminium structure with FRP decking to meet this demanding requirement. The new Jetty is now a popular asset for fisherman and visitors to the park.

Stainless Steel Artwork
These stainless steel fronds were challenging to design and required the use of sophisticated analysis techniques to achieve the slim and elegant profile desired by the artist.

Portal Frame Shed at HMAS Creswell
Westlake Punnett undertook structural analysis work to check the design of the structure. We were also contracted by Zauner Constructions Pty Limited to perform all inspections and certifications of all concrete footings, slabs and structural steelwork during construction.

Architectural Waterfront Residence
Westlake Punnett and Associates liased carefully with the Owners, Architect (Art House Building Design) and the builder (Build Platinum) to achieve a great result on this beachfront Architectural residence. The house required a full steelwork frame to account for large open spans, vast amounts of glazing, flood voids and exposed steelwork elements. Westlake Punnett also undertook the design of all concrete footings and pool which required careful consideration of Shoalhaven City Councils coastal erosion policies.

210 Tonne Rotor Lifting Beam for Snowy Hydro Ltd
This large lifting beam, which was originally fabricated in the 1950’s, required thorough structural analysis, testing and restoration. The beam is now back ready for service in the Snowy Mountains power stations. All fabrication and remedial works were carried out by All-Ways Rigging Gear.

Jervis Bay Sign
This landmark sign at the entry to Jervis Bay required careful attention to detail to meet the architect’s requirements and ensure that the finished product was vandal proof.

Nowra Skate Park
A new halfpipe was required for the Nowra Skate Park. Westlake Punnett undertook all structural design, documentation and construction inspections for this project which was constructed from reinforced blockwork and suspended Bondek slabs.

Kangaroo Valley Golf Club Truss
Working with old buildings can always be interesting. In this case the relocated Wool Shed at Kangaroo Valley Golf Club needed a new truss to support the roof. The truss was designed to fit in with the existing appearance of the building.

Residential Steel Framing
One of the hundreds of architectural residences in the Shoalhaven with steel frames designed by Westlake Punnett. The use of a rigid frame allowed this awning to stand free from the main roof.

Large Tilt Up Panels
The use of sophisticated software and Westlake Punnett’s considerable experience in tilt up design ensured that these large panels were constructed and erected quickly and without any damage during the lift process.

Proof Loading of Lifting Equipment
Westlake Punnett works closely with ‘All Ways Lifting Gear’ in Unanderra on a variety of lifting equipment projects. Unusual lifting equipments such as this turbine shaft lifter have been designed and proof tested in accordance with AS3997.

Straw Bale House at Bendalong
Westlake Punnett worked closely with Strawtec on this innovative home at Bendalong.
The building is composed of a load bearing timber frame built into the Straw Bale walls. The frame system has been developed by Strawtec in conjunction with Westlake Punnett and involves an innovative use of LVL timbers.
The flexibility of Straw Bales allows the construction of unique, highly energy efficient sustainable buildings.

Upgrading of Bridges
Working closely with Shoalhaven City Council, Westlake Punnett was able to quickly prepare simple and effective strengthening works to this old bridge to minimise the closure time for the bridge and access road.

Complex Swimming Pool
The complex shape of this infinity edge pool located in Bowral required careful analysis and attention to detail to ensure easy construction and adequate strength.

Timber Roof Truss
The very low roof pitch on this truss provided design challenges that were overcome through the use of strong and durable ‘Magna’ beam laminated timber.

Timber Roof Framing
This old relocated building was brought back to life by Architect Robin Graham at his property north of Nowra. Through detailed analysis the old structure was able to be brought up to modern standards while still retaining the original atmosphere.

Waffle Pod Slab at Bowral
The design of this luxury residence at Bowral required a foundation that could accommodate differing floor finishes as well as heavy masonry chimneys and feature walls. Westlake Punnett chose to use a modified version of the popular waffle pod slab to satisfy the project demands and still maintain economy.

Residential Steel Bracing Frames
Located on Elizabeth Drive, Vincentia with views of Jervis Bay, this architectural residence required careful design of a full steel skeleton to achieve the open spans and large glazed areas required.

Creswell Structural Refurbishment
Westlake Punnett & Associates undertook a rigorous analysis of this existing structure at HMAS Creswell and designed upgrades and refurbishment works to bring it up to current standards.

Murrays Beach Jetty
